Virus A (H1N1) virus is still circulating in Argentina, warns minister

December 12, 2009, 10:43 Buenos Aires, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) A (H1N1) continues to circulate today in Argentina when the country still stands on the threshold of summer, the health minister warned the nation, John Manzur.
The general public and health teams in particular should not lower our guard, said the senior official to speak this Friday at the monthly meeting of the Federal Health Council in Puerto Iguaz?, Misiones.
Manzur insisted that every person with symptoms of the disease must go to the doctor quickly, and keep active prevention measures as simple as washing hands frequently.
According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, between 17 May and 10 December of last year 616 people died from influenza A (H1N1). The deaths were reported in 21 provinces. During that time, there were one million 357 thousand 595 cases of influenza-like illness, 92.9 percent of which corresponded to the type A (H1N1) or A without subtyping in patients five years of age or older.
