The State Health Department could not provide more details on the victim, including the date of the death.

The Thomas Jefferson district includes most of central Virginia including the Charlottesville area.

Virginia health officials also say a Virginia Beach man with H1-N1 died November 6 at Sentara Bayside Hospital after being diagnosed with the H1N1 flu.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, during the week of November 8-14, 2009, influenza activity decreased slightly in the United States.

However, flu-related hospitalizations are very high nation-wide compared to the norm this time of year.
