Home | News & Events | Health Alert – Updated COVID-19 Information The U.S. Mission in Vietnam has received several inquiries about the outbreak of COVID-19, also known as novel Coronavirus, in the region. Important questions include the impact of COVID-19 on Vietnam and the advisability of travel through China or to/from the United States.

The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi and the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City continue to operate normally, but we ask anyone who does not feel well or has had potential exposure to COVID-19 or recent travel to China to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

This situation is continually evolving, and you should keep informed of the latest developments during your travel. Several resources and websites are listed below. If you have recently traveled to China or plan to transit through China in order to return to United States, this may impact your ability to board a flight, transit another country, or even delay your entry into the United States by at least fourteen days. Please consult the websites below and speak to your airline about what restrictions may exist regarding your return flights. The U.S. Department of State has advised people not to travel to China. Transiting China is considered travel to China. Please take this into consideration when determining whether to reroute your travel.
