Vietnam - Government: New HPAI H5N6 outbreak in Kon Tum province - January 13, 2016

1.HPAI

Today, there is one new outbreak reported from Kon Tum province:

Kon Tum province: On 9 January 2016, an HPAI A/H5N6 occurred in one livestock household located in Dak Ngoc commune, Dak Ha district. The outbreak resulted in 21.360 birds infected (1.000 chickens and 360 ducks), 895 birds died (600 chickens and 295 ducks). A total of 2.100 birds (1.500 chickens and 600 ducks) had been culled. The SubDAH incorporated with the local authority applied all control measures following regulations.

Currently, there are 4 HPAI A/H5N6 outbreaks detected in 4 districts of 3 provinces, which are not yet over 21 days as following:

(1) Quang Ngai province: 01 outbreak in Tinh Ha commune, Son Tinh district (was over 5 days);

(2) Kon Tum province: 02 outbreak in 2 districts:
a) Ngoc Hoi district: 01 outbreak in Dak Kan commune (was over 3 days);
b) Dak Ha district: 01 outbreak in Dak Ngoc commune.

(3) Tuyen Quang province: 01 outbreak in Duc Ninh commune, Ham Yen district (was over 2 days).
