Bird flu patient discharged from hospital

The 8-year-old patient, infected with the H5N1 strain of the avian flu in Ba Thuoc district, central Thanh Hoa province, is now well enough to be discharged from hospital, doctor Le Trong Dung said on January 14.

Bui Thi Thao admitted to hospital on January 2 with signs of high fever, coughing and breathing difficulties.

The test showed the girl was positive for the H5N1 virus.
