Dengue outbreak anticipated to reach peak in capital Hanoi in next two months
Hanoi is enduring a surge in dengue infections, with an additional 38 new hotspots and 1,420 cases recorded from October 14 to 21.

According to the capital’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), most cases have been detected in districts of Nam Tu Liem, and Dong Da, and in outlying districts of Dan Phuong, Thanh Oai and Phu Xuyen.

Since the beginning of this year, Hanoi has recorded a total of 8,199 dengue infections, triple compared to the same period last year. Among the infections were five deaths.

Currently, there are 156 active hotspots across 25 districts in the capital.

Health experts say the dengue epidemic typically occurs every four to five years, and the number of cases is poised to continue rising over the coming weeks as it is the rainy season in the north. The peak season of dengue fever is predicted to fall in November and December...

HANOI, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has reported about 260,000 cases of dengue fever infections including 102 deaths so far this year, its Ministry of Health said Friday.

The number of infections and fatalities grew nearly five times from the same period in 2021, the ministry said, adding that "major outbreaks" are likely to occur in many provinces and cities in November and December.

Ho Chi Minh City is still the hotspot of the dengue fever in Vietnam with nearly 70,000 infections and 29 deaths. The capital Hanoi has seen more than 8,000 cases with 12 deaths.

HANOI, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's capital Hanoi is on alert as it has seen the biggest increase in dengue fever cases in the country, local media reported on Wednesday.

The weekly number of infections in the city has risen from 500 to 700 per week in September to 1,200 to 1,400 at the end of October, the Vietnam News reported.

The city has recorded nearly 10,000 dengue fever cases so far this year, almost tripling the number of the same period in 2021.

Hanoi hospitals overloaded with surge in dengue fever patients

Dengue fever patients are having to share hospital beds or return home and await their turn to be hospitalized as Hanoi sees a surge in the mosquito-borne disease.

The Thanh Nhan General Hospital in Hai Ba Trung District is currently treating 250 dengue fever patients.

Doctor Nguyen Thu Huong said the number of dengue patients has "jumped" since early October, filling up all beds in all departments designated to treat the disease.

Vietnam reports over 300,000 dengue fever cases, 122 deaths this year

HANOI, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has detected 325,604 dengue fever cases so far this year, including 122 fatalities, according to its health ministry.

The number of dengue infections increased nearly five times and the number of death went up 97 cases compared to the same period last year, it said.

Between January and November, the country also reported 269 cases of virus encephalitis infection including five deaths, and 62,400 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, according to the country's Preventive Health Department on Thursday...

HANOI, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has reported about 354,282 cases of dengue fever infections including 133 deaths this year, its Ministry of Health said on Thursday.

The number of infections grew five times and the number of fatalities increased 107 cases from the same period in 2021, the ministry said.
