Currently, there are 184 communes in 65 districts of 19 provinces and cities having the epidemic of African swine fever less than 21 days. Every month, thousands of pigs have to be destroyed because of this disease.
The country has 19 provinces with African swine fever
According to the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development-Agriculture and Rural Development), only August 2020 (as of August 12), African swine fever recurred in 46 communes of 12 provinces.
The total number of infected pigs forced to be destroyed in August2020 was 2,099. Before that, in June-July 2020, this disease also recurred in many provinces, causing nearly 9,800 pigs to be destroyed.
Most recently, on August 12, the People's Committee of Muong Nhe commune, Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province coordinated with functional agencies to destroy 16 pigs infected with African swine fever.
Previously, a herd of 16 pigs in the household of Dao Hong Ngoc, in the population group No. 2, Muong Nhe commune, showed signs of illness and death.
On July 7, Mr. Ngoc's family reported to the authorities to take samples for testing at the District 1 Veterinary Department (Hanoi).
As of August 10, the results showed that the test samples were positive for African swine fever virus.
Muong Nhe Commune People's Committee has coordinated with specialized agencies to destroy all infected pigs. At the same time, supplying chemicals and lime powder to spray and disinfect barns in Mr. Ngoc's household and neighboring areas according to regulations.
In general, there are now 184 communes in 65 districts of 19 provinces and cities with African swine fever in less than 21 days.
To prevent outbreaks of African swine fever on a large scale, the Department of Animal Health is constantly inspecting and urging localities in the prevention and control of animal diseases.
Occurrence of other epidemics on cattle and poultry
Also according to the Department of Animal Health, although on August 13 there was no new outbreak reported in the localities, at present, there are 3 outbreaks of avian flu in 3 provinces: Long An: 1 avian flu outbreak A / H5N1; Tra Vinh: 1 avian influenza A / H5N1; Kon Tum: 1 avian influenza A / H5N6.

The foot-and-mouth disease epidemic has occurred in Quang Tri and Dong Nai with 2 outbreaks. In particular, in Quang Tri province appeared 1 outbreak in Cam Thanh commune, Cam Lo district. Total infected cattle are 30.
In Dong Nai province, an outbreak has occurred in Binh Son commune, Long Thanh district. The total infected cattle are 11.
Currently, there are 5 outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease that have passed 21 days in the provinces: Kon Tum in Dak Tuc and Dak Ang communes; Quang Tri: In Huc Nghi commune; Nghe An: Tan Thang commune; Phu Yen: Xuan Quang commune 2.
Thus, up to this point, the country had 5 foot-and-mouth outbreaks occurring in 5 provinces, including: Quang Tri, Nghe An, Kon Tum, Cao Bang and Dong Nai.
