More deaths from dengue reported in HCMC

Two more deaths from dengue in district 12 and one suspected case in district 5 were reported in the first two months of 2017, said the HCMC Department of Health at a meeting on disease prevention on March 16.

Nine month old baby in Commune Dong Hung Thuan of district 12 died in the Children Hospital No.2 on March 4th and 36 year old woman in Commune Hiep Thanh died on February 27th.

A report issued by the coty?s Center of Preventive Medicine, 20 districts reported more cases of dengue and the number of infection soared continuously...

Hanoi (VNA) ? Vietnam recorded nearly 6,900 cases of dengue fever infections in April, compared to the average figure of 4,000 in the first three months of the year.

According to the Health Ministry, since the beginning of this year, 20,947 people have contracted the disease, with eight of them dying.

In Hanoi alone, 500 dengue fever cases were reported during the period, up 45 percent from last year...

HANOI - Vietnam's capital city of Hanoi has a bad case of dengue fever with some 5,300 cases reported so far this year, of which 1,100 cases were recorded last week alone, Vietnam media reported, citing the city's health department.

The National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi has been admitting 200 dengue patients per day over the past two weeks, four times higher than the same period last year, VnExpress reported on Wednesday (July 19).

Hospital director Nguyen Van Kinh told VnExpress that doctors are concerned about the unusually high number of deaths caused by brain hemorrhages. Five patients have already died from the condition so far this year, compared to only one or two in previous years...

Across the country, more than 45,000 people caught dengue fever in the first half of the year, up 0.3 per cent on-year, data from the health ministry showed. Fifteen deaths have been reported, up by two from a year ago...

HANOI ? Nearly 5,000 additional cases of dengue fever have been detected in Hanoi within the last two weeks, including six fatal ones.

This raises the total number of people contracting dengue fever in the capital to more than 13,200 since early this year.

The sixth patient, who reportedly died on Wednesday at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, was a 56-year-old woman. She was hospitalised five days earlier for cardiac arrest and multi-organ failure...

Dengue fever death toll rises to 24 as outbreak spreads across Vietnam

Thousands of new patients are being reported every day as mosquitoes thrive in the unpredictable weather.

Dengue fever has claimed the lives of 24 people in Vietnam so far this year, five more than the same period last year, with the latest victim dying in Hanoi last week.

Over 80,500 people have contracted the mosquito-borne virus, up 33.5 percent, and 70,000 have been admitted to hospital.

Saigon has recorded the highest number of dengue patients at 16,500, followed by Hanoi with 14,000...

Dengue fever infections in Vietnam's Da Nang double in 8 months

HANOI, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Some 4,500 dengue fever cases have been detected in Vietnam's central Da Nang city in the first eight months of this year, nearly doubling the figure during the same period last year, the municipal Preventive Medicine Center said on Thursday.

During the eight-month period, Da Nang Hospital alone received some 1,100 dengue fever patients, up 130 percent. Of the patients, 62 percent are from Da Nang, and the rest from neighboring provinces, including Quang Ngai, Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue...
