Not health authorities had disclosed the diagnosis of the patient, who remained several days isolated from the main health center of Santa Barbara



Nidia Ordo?ez of 46 years, died the evening this Saturday, on the unit care intensive (ICU) of the Hospital General Santa Barbara, after spending several days of agony with flu known as H1N1, which apparently was in State Advanced.



Women had been hospitalized for several days, but the health center staff never yielded details about the condition of the disease, they only referred to the entry of a suspected case.



Interestingly, the ballot's death was what pointed that it was not a suspect, but actually was a proven case of the virus which claimed the life of the housewife House.



This is the first case of death from influenza H1N1 registered in the Colon municipality; however, official sources of the Epidemiology Unit of the jurisdiction indicated that two suspected cases but they are not held in hospital, are waiting for the results which will emanate the specialized laboratory to confirm or not the ailment. record

I am a novice at the study of influenza, but could I ask, has the pathogenicity of H1N1 increased? I was under the impression that the danger from it had basically passed. Has the virus mutated in some way to make it more dangerous or is it that I am just now more aware of what is going on with it in the world, so it is getting more of my attention? Is it still widely circulating?

I never received the specific vaccine for H1N1 in 2009 due to being on IVIG at the time. (We cocooned me and I stayed fairly isolated hoping the IVIG had antibodies to H1N1) I am no longer on IVIG, and have had seasonal vaccine that includes H1N1, but, is that enough to confer immunity or should I request a specific H1N1 vaccine?

H1N1 virus has not changed its pathogenicity and antigenic characteristics are still the same as when it appeared in 2009. It is advisable to continue to get vaccinated with the seasonal vaccine.
