Abstract

Background: Digital stories are multi-modal narratives that recount lived experiences and have been associated with changes in pediatric caregivers' vaccination attitudes or behaviors. They may improve influenza vaccination equity.
Objective: To co-create pediatric influenza digital stories, with accompanying messaging and an implementation plan, for use in two safety-net clinics in historically Black neighborhoods.
Methods: Clinic staff, caregivers, and community leaders were recruited to participate in Rapid Community Translation meetings, followed by Digital Storytelling Workshops. Meetings were facilitated by the Center for African American Health; a storytelling expert from StoryCenter facilitated workshops.
Results: 17 clinical staff, caregivers, and community leaders participated in five Rapid Community Translation meetings and/or three digital storytelling workshops; retention approached 80 %. Seven digital stories were co-created, with five chosen by invested partners for future implementation.
Conclusions: Rapid Community Translation feasibly guided the co-creation of tailored pediatric influenza digital stories and accompanying messaging for implementation in safety-net clinics.
