New Kent, Va. ? A child has died from meningitis in the Chickahominy Health District, according to the district health director. Dr. Thomas Franck said that they received notification of the child?s death on Wednesday, August 12.
The child, who attended a New Kent child care center, caught meningococcal meningitis, a bacterial meningitis which Franck said is very rare. It is unclear where the child contracted the infection.

(WRIC) ? Earlier this month, a child in the Chickahominy District passed away after becoming infected with bacterial meningitis.

We?re sad to report that another child in the same area has passed away due to what health officials suspect to also be bacterial meningitis. That child, along with another child who has just been released from the hospital, became sick during their stay at an area juvenile residential facility in Henrico...
