Swine flu case continues to rise; 5-yr-old Rishikesh boy died

One more patient has died due to swine flu in Dehradun while six new cases of the disease were reported by the district health department on Monday. The health department on the day confirmed that a five-year-old boy, a resident of Kali Ki Dhal of Rishikesh had died due to swine flu. The death of the boy occurred on August 9 at Himalayan hospital Jollygrant. With it the number of deaths due to swine flu this year has climbed to 13. The health department also reported six new patients suffering from the infection of H1 N1 virus on Monday.
What is worrisome that more and more children are being detected with virus of H1N1 this season.
The medical experts are of the view that the children and the old are more susceptible for the disease on account of weak immunity.
The district health department has so far reported 73 cases of the disease out of which 35 cases were reported in July while 22 cases have been reported so far in first fortnight of August.

SWINE FLU TEST REPORTS OF 11 OUT OF 15 PATIENTS ARRIVED AFTER THEIR DEATH
Monday, 28 August 2017 | Gajendra Singh Negi | Dehradun | in Dehradun

The inordinate delay in reporting of the swine flu cases in the state has made mockery of the health department?s claim of making all preparation to deal with the dreaded disease. Shockingly, the sample reports of 11 out of 15 people who have so far lost their lives to the disease in this season have arrived after their deaths.

Take the case of little Pari (Name changed), a four year old girl of Chinyalisaud in Uttarkashi district. She was admitted in a private hospital of Dehradun on August 6, where she died on August 9. Her blood sample was sent to National Centre of Disease Control (NCDC) by district health authorities on August 9 and the report which found her positive for the disease arrived three days after the girl?s death. Pari is not alone as reports of 11 other patients arrived after their deaths.
