Girl dies of mystery fever, 17 children in hospital

A five-year-old girl has died of a mysterious fever while 17 other children have been admitted to hospitals in Modinagar area of this district.

The patients are showing symptoms of viral fever with red scar on bodies, government doctors said.

Following the death of the five-year-old girl at Kidwai Nagar area in Modinagar on Friday, a team of doctors from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital visited hospitals in the district and examined the patients.

Blood samples of the children had been taken to ascertain the cause of the fever, the doctors said.
