Utah health officials report two more measles cases
By Katie McKellar - Utah News Dispatch | Jun 25, 2025

Utah’s measles case count is now up to three, after state health officials on Tuesday reported two more Utahns have been diagnosed with the highly contagious virus.

Like the state’s first case reported last week, the two additional people who have been infected are adults and unvaccinated, according to a news release issued by the Utah Department of Health and Human services.

The two additional adults are not linked to each other or the first person who was diagnosed with measles on Friday. They are from different parts of the state, health officials said. One is a Utah County resident, while the other is from the state’s southwest health district.

“Public health investigations are ongoing to identify any locations where possible exposures may have occurred,” state health officials said.

Utahns can monitor the state’s measles case count and find more information about Utah’s response to outbreaks on the state’s website, epi.utah.gov/measles-response/.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the state listed only two potential “exposure locations” and times related to the state’s first confirmed case: Parkway Health Center in Orem, 154 W. 1300 South, from June 13 at 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., and Timpanogos Regional Emergency Room in Orem, 750 W. 800 North, from June 14 at 2 p.m. to 9 p.m...

SALT LAKE CITY — State health officials have confirmed two additional measles cases in Utah, bringing the total number of cases to five. The two new cases involved unvaccinated patients who were linked to previously diagnosed individuals.

One of the newly identified positive cases is in a minor, while the other is an adult. Public health investigations are now underway to identify any locations where possible exposures may have occurred.

Currently, two of the five people diagnosed have been hospitalized due to complications. Though the hospitalizations were temporary and both are now released from the hospital.

Utah health officials say two of the cases are in unvaccinated women who are pregnant. Measles during pregnancy is very risky, with the pregnancies being at a higher risk of miscarriage, stillbirth, or giving birth to a child who will experience serious medical problems. Pregnant women are also more likely to be hospitalized because of the measles...

Salt Lake County identifies its first 'probable' case of measles amid nationwide outbreak
By Bridger Beal-Cvetko, KSL.com | Posted - Oct. 29, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Salt Lake County reported its first "probable" measles case amid a national outbreak.
The patient declined testing, hindering confirmation and contact tracing efforts, officials said.
Health officials urge cooperation to prevent measles spread. Vaccination remains the best protection.

SALT LAKE CITY — Health officials have identified what they believe is the first case of measles reported in Salt Lake County amid a current nationwide outbreak of the disease.

The Salt Lake County Health Department was alerted to a possible case of the viral disease on Monday, but a news release issued Wednesday says officials have been unable to confirm the diagnosis because the patient declined to participate in their investigation.

"The patient has declined to be tested or to fully participate in our disease investigation, so we will not be able to technically confirm the illness or properly do contact tracing to warn anyone with whom the patient may have had contact," said Dorothy Adams, the department's executive director.

"But based on the specific symptoms reported by the health care provider and the limited conversation our investigators have had with the patient, this is very likely a case of measles in someone living in Salt Lake County."

Health officials urged residents to cooperate with health workers if contacted to help prevent the disease from spreading within the community. If contacted by phone, residents can confirm the legitimacy of health workers by asking the worker to send an email from his or her official .gov email address, or by calling the county health department at 385-468-4100 and asking to be transferred to the investigator who called them...

Salt Lake County confirms its first case of measles amid nationwide outbreak
By Logan Stefanich, KSL.com | Posted - Nov. 14, 2025 at 1:15 p.m.

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake County Health Department on Friday confirmed a measles infection in an adult resident — the first lab-confirmed case identified in the county amid a current nationwide outbreak of the disease.

The infected individual is unvaccinated, the department said.

"This case is especially concerning because the source of the patient's infection is unknown," Dorothy Adams, executive director of the department, said in a statement. "They have not knowingly had contact with anyone who had measles, which means their infection is the result of transmission somewhere out in the community."

The health department said epidemiologists are working quickly to notify anyone the patient may have exposed and all personal contacts of the infected individual have already been notified individually.

Additionally, health officials say the patient visited one public location while they were infectious and people who were at the following location during the indicated date and times may have been exposed:

Taylorsville InstaCare, 3845 W. 4700 South, on Friday, Nov. 7, from 3 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

November 18, 2025

UTAH, Nov. 18, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah’s documented measles cases now number 84, an increase of seven cases in the past four days.

Five of the new cases are in the Southwest Utah Health district, which is the heaviest hit area in Utah, now with 65 cases. Two are in Central Utah, which previously had no confirmed cases.

The Central Utah Health Department (CUHD) says the two confirmed cases are in local residents who were unvaccinated, and had recent contact with someone they believe had measles.

The CUHD staff has identified “a small number of individuals who may have had minimal exposure to one of the positive cases,” an agency news release says.

“CUHD staff are currently contacting any exposed individuals. There have been no further exposures or risks to the public from these cases at this time.”...

HEBER CITY, Utah (KUTV) — At least five high schoolers in Wasatch County were infected with measles after being exposed during school hours and at the school play in mid-November.

Health officials confirmed Saturday that five people had recently contracted measles in Wasatch County, all of whom are students at Wasatch High School.

Jonelle Fitzgerald, director of the Wasatch County Health Department, said that while the students attend the same school, they do not believe the cases are connected. Because of this, they believe there may be other cases that "pop up in the community," with two additional patients currently awaiting test results...
