Re: Utah 2010-2011 Season: Weeks 40-6 (Five New Deaths?, Total 10)

Looking at what UT collects in their data (up through week 6):

Of the hospitalized with confirmed influenza:
20.5% had been vaccinated; 30.3% unvaccinated; 43.2% unknown
2.6% died; 76.1% did not die; 21.3% unknown (possibly because they are still hospitalized)

The CDC is now asking for sentines to collect information on vaccination. This was stated on TN site:
"Attention Sentinel Providers: The CDC continues to find that most circulating
strains are well matched to the vaccine; vaccine effectiveness is good but varies by individual and breakthrough cases are not unusual.

However, CDC is interested in viruses collected from vaccine recipients. If you
submit a specimen from an ILI patient, be sure you document vaccine status on the form!"
