A strike at Canada Post has brought mail and package delivery in that country to a halt.

USPS has suspended acceptance of mail and packages bound for Canada as a result of an ongoing strike at Canada Post, that country’s designated postal operator.

Canada Post is no longer accepting inbound mail and there is no movement of mail within Canada because of the strike, which began Nov. 15.

USPS customers who have recently mailed items to Canada should expect delays.

Members and supporters of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) rally outside a speaking engagement by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Halifax on Monday, December 9, 2024.

The federal labour minister says the government will remain on the sidelines as the Canada Post strike nears four weeks.

Steven MacKinnon told reporters Wednesday that while Canadians are fed up with the countrywide strike by more than 55,000 workers, it's up to the two parties to get a deal done.

The federal government has been under pressure from business groups to intervene in the strike, as it has done in other recent high-profile labour disputes...
