New York, 2 maggio 2014 - Negli Stati Uniti ? stato rilevato il primo caso di virus-Mers (sindrome respiratoria mediorientale da coronavirus Mers-Cov). La notizia ? stata diffusa dal Centro per la prevenzione e il controllo delle malattie statunitense (Cdc) ed ? stato osservato nello Stato dell?Indiana.

Il Cdc ha avvertito che il paziente in trattamento era appena tornato da un viaggio in Arabia Saudita. Il virus ? stato isolato per la prima volta nel 2012 nella Penisola araba. Da quando ? stato osservato il virus ha colpito 339 persone in Arabia Saudita, portando al decesso di circa un terzo di loro.

Secondo la valutazione del rischio sviluppata dall'OMS il paziente con malattia in incubazione non ? infettivo.

Secondo quanto riferito nel corso della conferenza stampa tenuta dal CDC il paziente - un sanitario proveniente dall'Arabia Saudita - sarebbe tornato negli USA il 24 aprile scorso e avrebbe sviluppato la sintomatologia il 27 e ricoverato il 28.

Fra il 24 e il 27 aprile - periodo nel quale sar? entrato in contatto con viaggiatori, parenti, amici e altre persone - il paziente potrebbe non essere quindi stato contagioso.

In ogni caso, ci siamo passati anche noi in Italia l'anno scorso e non abbiamo fatto tutto questo c***no qui!

Incubation period: 2 ‐ 14 days: Period of infectivity: patients can shed the virus after resolution of symptoms, but the duration of infectivity is unknown.

Patients are not contagious during the incubation period.

Asymptomatic cases might not be contagious.
