US - Texas: Unusual Spike - Covid Pulse Map

Something unusual may be occurring in central Texas....and maybe not. If you use the Covid Pulse Map and zoom into central Texas there are very significant spikes in multiple counties in graphs of the past seven days. Here is the link to the Covid Pulse Map.

I have gone to the Texas dashboard to see if I can verify the graphs. They appear to be correct. Very odd. Nothing like this shows up anywhere else in the country. I have been checking the Covid Pulse Map off and on for some time and have not seen anything similar. Here is the link to the Texas dashboard:

Apparently Region 7 office of Texas Department of State Health Services are adding a backlog of cases. So data update spikes.

Total number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Central Texas rises to more than 60,000

(KWTX) – Nearly 800 additional cases of COVID-19 were reported Friday in Central Texas, most of them in Bell County as the result of a months-long backlog, increasing the total in the region to 60,474.

And another surge in cases may come as early as Monday.

The Region 7 office of the Texas Department of State Health Services, which oversees a large swath of Central Texas, advised Coryell County Judge Roger Miller Thursday it has underreported the number of COVID-19 cases in the county for the past several months and will add almost 2,500 cases on Monday, almost doubling the county’s total, Miller said in a press release Friday.
