Havana, October 24 (RHC) --- The Head of the International Collaboration Department of the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment Jorge Luis Fernandez Chamero said that the prestigious American scientific publication Science published an editorial denouncing the US blockade prevents a normal scientific feedback between Cubans and Americans.
Americans scientists say Cubans are highly trained in different areas such as meteorology.
Fernandez Chamero said that the White House has been hindering scientific exchanges between the two countries by not granting visas to Cuban scientists to attend congresses and other scientific events in the United States.
One instance of how the US blocade on Cuba interferes with scientific research is the inaccessibility of Cuban laboratories to diagnostic equipment manufactured by General Electric Co. used in the screening of samples suspected bird flu carriers.
The 47-year old policy forces Cuba to bear additional costs of imports, freights and market insurances:tiphat:
