US - President touts 'door-to-door' vaccine outreach amid growing concerns over variants - bad idea...think of some other information method

Maybe sell informative t-shirts...

As Covid cases rise in Florida, Governor DeSantis digs at Fauci with merchandise

For $12, you can buy a red beverage cooler imprinted with the words: “How the hell am I going to be able to drink a beer with a mask on?”

Those with deeper pockets can be the proud owner of a $21 T-shirt stamped with the map of Florida and the logo “Love My Gov” and “Keep Florida Free”.

But perhaps the merchandise with the best sales potential are the drink koozies and T-shirts that say “Don’t Fauci My Florida”.

... The timing of his new Fauci-bashing merchandise launch is unfortunate, given the state of his state. Though vaccination levels have risen in Florida, and infection rates fallen, Florida is grappling with a marked increase in new cases and hospitalisations as the highly contagious Delta variant kicks in.

Almost 3,000 Floridians are being hospitalised each day, according to the New York Times, the highest number in the nation and the fourth-highest per capita. New cases increased by 429% over the past 14 days, a dramatic surge only superseded by that in Tennessee.

We are still in the pandemic. Sarcastic t-shirts are a bit premature.

Florida has been mostly wide open. I am not sure what is going to happen with the Delta variant. I am very restrictive in my activities even though I am fully vaccinated. Most everyone is inside air conditioning this time of year. And I routinely wear a mask.

I came across a person today who is in an age risk group and they have no intention of getting a vaccination or wearing a mask. They were very well informed about the pro-vaccine data but do not want to get one. No conspiracy theories mentioned. A general dislike for vaccines of all kinds. Never taken a flu shot for example.

I know another person, very close to me, in a risk age group, who is very liberal politically, and a professional. They also are refusing to get a vaccination. No conspiracy theory or misinformation at work. This person thinks COVID-19 is overblown and they can fight it off if infected.

Both of the above people are firm in their ideas and no visit from anyone to their front door will change their minds.

I do not try to persuade anyone to get a shot. I am not a health professional. I am unqualified to comment on any medical issue. What I do is try to serve as a example by talking about my choices and the reasons behind them. I do not argue or pressure. I have no idea if I made the right choice. But at the time, with the information that I had, I made the choice to vaccinate based on my assessment of my risk factors.

Please do not take any medical advice from the internet. There are sock puppets, people selling stuff, all sorts of misrepresentations, opportunists. Consult your medical practitioner. Use at least two sources for your news and information.

Use your common sense.

"The results of this study clearly imply that a small minority of individuals fully vaccinated with Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine might still present with a severe SARS-CoV-2 infection and the need for in-patient care – despite the vaccine's high effectiveness. More specifically, the outcome of patients included in the study was comparable to that of non-vaccinated hospitalized COVID-19 patients."

The vaccine appears to be failing. There is an emerging pattern of comparable rates of infection between vaccinated and unvaccinated groups as the Israeli experiment is demonstrating. Dr. Bossche warned about immune escape and the dangers of vaccinating in the midst of a pandemic. Mandates, going "door to door" or making broad statements about searching text messages to find "the unvaccinated," will serve inspire deep distrust of governmental overreach into civil liberties, democracy, and freedom.

As it stands, this quickly becoming much more than CoVid-19, the even the pandemic. It is about putting a needle in every arm at all costs. Why?

We are moving into new territory as unprecedented censorship, vaccine passports, vaccine mandates, pronouncements of going door to door, along with the invasion of privacy through accessing text messages to find unvaccinated people threaten democracies worldwide. Look at what is happening here in France with the new pass sanitaire that is on par with the draconian measures imposed by the CCP on the Chinese people. Tomorrow there will be mass demonstrations with calls to fight authoritarianism. We are in a period that could see the destabilization of the western world.

I agree. No one remembers but ALL of the old pandemic models predicted as many people could die as collateral damage in a pandemic as killed by the disease. One of the major components in this calculation was violence.

"No one cares what celebrities think about vaccines." --- I don't care what celebrities think, but, unfortunately a large group of people do... yet another sad commentary on humanity...

I agree. No one remembers but ALL of the old pandemic models predicted as many people could die as collateral damage in a pandemic as killed by the disease. One of the major components in this calculation was violence.

Indeed. But did those models ever predict the highjacking of democracy through the instrument of a pandemic by attempting to transform liberal democracies into authoritarian regimes? Perhaps other pandemic models also didn't take into account a lab leaked genetically engineered virus or the PCR test that could skew how "cases" were traditionally counted. (In the past, a case was a sick person presenting to a doctor in a hospital, not a positive test with false positives, that may or may not result in illness).

To your point about violence, riot police are already getting prepared and warnings that tomorrow's protests will be violent are circulating.

People believe we are all in the fight of our lives for civil liberty and freedom. Not since WWII have we seen such oppressive and repressive measures being imposed on a population.

There is a belief that once the pass sanitaire is implemented, there will be no going back. France, along with other countries who will or who have already adopted these measures, will be transformed into police states with authoritarian rule. Eventually, people's previously held private information will be integrated into the pass. If someone puts off that 3rd, 4th booster shot, they will be barred from public services such as buses and metros along with cafe's and theaters-- even hospitals. If they need cash, their bank card may not work until their pass sanitaire or vaccine passport is brought current, irrespective of the health consequences they may experience from accumulated doses. All of which are unknown.

In China, they have taken their vaccine passport a step further are are beginning to use facial recognition software.

Both vaccinated and unvaccinated people around the world are asking themselves, "Is this the world I want to live in?" All those who see this as an authoritarian coup feel they are in a fight to preserve civil liberties and freedom. Local businesses, police, fire fighters and others have come out against the pass sanitaire. 40% of the nursing staff are poised to resign.

This is a historic moment and one we should all be sitting up and paying attention to. We have to look beyond what we are being told and towards how these new tools can be and will be abused by governments.

All of the old pandemic models assumed possible severe social breakdowns, which include violence.

This is how you promote vaccines (if you want to), instead of federal representatives accosting people at their homes....

Seventeen percent of those who are now vaccinated despite expressing hesitancy in January said they were convinced to do so by a family member, 10% said they were persuaded by a health care provider or doctor and 5% said they were convinced by a close friend.

Sixty-five percent of vaccinated adults, including some who were vaccine skeptics, said in the survey that they have attempted to persuade family members or close friends to get shots.

“Seeing their friends and family members get vaccinated without serious side effects, talking to family members about being able to safely visit, and conversations with their personal doctors about their own risks were all persuasive factors for these individuals,” researchers wrote. “A small but meaningful share also say the easing of restrictions for vaccinated people was a factor in their decision to get a vaccine.”

The door knocking approach is very old school, straight back to the Clinton era in the 1990’s. We got a letter from NIH back then stating we had been selected based on our demographic to be subjects in a drug and alcohol abuse study they were doing. They said our participation was very important because they needed a particular cross section of the population for the study.

They said a social worker would come to OUR home and interview us for about 2-3 HOURS about every detail of our lives and family histories but not to worry; the data would be anonymous. We were not given an opportunity to opt out, but we wrote back anyway and politely stated that we did not want to participate in the study.

We forgot all about this for a few weeks then one day, our block watch captains said that a suspicious vehicle had been lurking several times near our home watching it. We weren’t sure what it was about but were very concerned. Then one day the vehicle was back when we were home and someone got out and came to the door. We don’t answer the door to strangers and they left. But it kept coming back and watching us. This went on for a couple of months.

Finally for some reason, I answered the door. It turned out to be a social worker sent by the NIH to do the interview. She wanted to set an appointment. I told her politely that we had long ago sent a refusal letter back to them and we valued our privacy.

Also, I shared that I had recently listened to an interview with a former social worker from Detroit who realized one day that the domestic violence and addictions her clients were suffering all were birthed by job losses. So she quit her government job and started her own business and began employing people to help them.

The social worker apologized for having worried us. She said she wasn’t allowed to leave us alone until she made contact. I told her that I understood.

Those were the good old days of being NIH lab rats.

People are changed after the pandemic. Communication methods need to change. Throw out your old thinking. This is why I am saying federal "door-to-door" is a bad idea.

"...If I am going to be miserable, at the very least, I am going to be miserable on my own terms...."

People are tired of demeaning jobs & commutes. NYC subway ridership below HALF pre pandemic numbers!

See this....do not push people over the edge right now with federal visits to people's homes. Nerves are frayed.
