Most notably, the government plans to buy a half-billion at-home COVID test kits and mail them to people who want them, with deliveries beginning in January, a senior administration official told reporters Monday, previewing the speech.

It's a major step to tackling problems Americans have faced in easily accessing free at-home COVID tests throughout the pandemic.

In a speech set for 2:30 p.m. ET, Biden will share more details of his new plan that will also aim to provide more aid to overwhelmed hospitals and expands capacity to vaccinate more Americans.

Am I the only one who noticed some coughing and occasional hoarseness at the beginning of his address? He did better later so maybe just something caught in his throat. I am disappointed that we seem to be a few weeks behind this as testing is already getting overwhelmed.
We are also looking forward to new isolation guidelines for healthcare worker who are vaccinated and boosted with positive test. We are already getting hit hard in San Diego in healthcare staffing.

I watched the presentation until the question and answer period. He coughed and cleared his throat a few times.

Acknowledges general population's frustration with COVID-19,
If not fully vaccinated there is a cause for concern,
Most deaths in last few months have been unvaccinated,
Vaccinated people are protected from severe illness and death,
Wear a mask for extra protection even if vaccinated,
Unvaccinated have a duty to yourself to get vaccinated, getting vaccinated is a patriotic duty,
Get a booster shot and wear a mask,
Even Trump got a booster shot,
Booster shots are free and readily available,
The US has gowns, masks, ventilators stockpiled,
No need to close schools due to testing availability,
Concerned about Omicron, but not panicked,
Best thing to do is to vaccinate and get booster,
Stay focused,
Stepping up vaccination and booster efforts,
Adding 10k more vaccination sites and hundreds more vaccinators, opening FEMA vaccination sites - especially where there is high demand,
Get children vaccinated,
Critical to mask up in indoor places (I think referring to mostly adults in this comment. s.s.)
Please get vaccinated. It is the responsible thing to do.
COVID-19 cases in hospitals can displace patients with other critical health problems.
Dangerous COVID-19 misinformation on cable t.v. and social media. WRONG and IMMORAL. Stop it! Stop it now!
Spent 3 billion dollars to get at home test kits.
1/2 billion rapid COVID-19 test kits coming for free. "Covid test near me"
Hospitals will get very busy again. Have pre-positioned supplies and adding 1,000 military doctors, nurses, medics for this effort,
FEMA activating national defense center. Adding pop-up hospital clinics next to existing ones.
Companies will require vaccination or test each week or go home. (I think this policy is in the court system. s.s.)
Science is clear...K-12 schools should be open. All adults at schools should be vaccinated. "Test to stay" guidelines issued by CDC.

He was very hoarse in the last address he did. The one before that he seemed to have a mild cold, too. I don't know if it is a response to the content or his symptoms, but I always start feeling puny after listening to his addresses and start worrying I'm coming down with something. MSM hysteria is the diagnosis.
