... Trump made the comments following news that Hope Hicks, one his closest aides, tested positive for the coronavirus after spending time in close proximity to him this week.

Trump said he expected to have the results back either Thursday night or Friday morning.

The rooms at the White House are a lot smaller than depicted on television and movies. It would be hard to social distance in the West Wing.

What are the dimensions of the Oval Office?

Presidents have traditionally decorated the West Wing to suit their individual needs and reflect their personal tastes. Because of this, the West Wing tends to echo the personality and governing style of the incumbent chief executive. This is seen most dramatically in the president's formal office at the heart of the West Wing—known today as the Oval Office.

Oval Office Dimensions:
  • Long Axis: 35' 10" (10.9m)
  • Short Axis: 29' (8.8m)
  • Height: 18' 6" (5.6m)
  • Line of Rise: 16' 7" (5.0m) the point at which the ceiling starts to arch
The Changing Oval Office

The architectural design of the Oval Office has mirrored the three major phases of reconstruction, which occurred in 1902, 1909, and 1934.

The physical environment of the West Wing interior today differs from that constructed in 1934. Once there was a large and airy lobby and vestibule that held the press, visitors, and White House staffers waiting for appointments. Generally, the offices were also more spacious. The lobby and vestibule and larger office spaces have been cut up over the years to create a honeycomb of work areas optimized to accommodate the ever growing staff. However, the West Wing comprises more than the formal rooms of the Oval Office, the Cabinet Room, and the Roosevelt Room, and a warren of staff spaces. Adjacent to the structure is the Rose Garden, first planted in 1913 and redesigned in 1961, that has been the setting of so many historic events and moments of ceremony.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is experiencing “mild symptoms” of COVID-19 after revealing Friday that he and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the coronavirus, a stunning announcement that plunged the country deeper into uncertainty just a month before the presidential election.

...“I don’t wear masks like him,” Trump said of Biden. “Every time you see him, he’s got a mask. He could be speaking 200 feet away from me, and he shows up with the biggest mask I’ve ever seen.”

In a tweet Friday morning, Biden said he and his wife “send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery. We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family.” Vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her husband tweeted similar sentiments.

World leaders offered the president and first family their best wishes after their diagnosis, as governments used their case as a reminder for their citizens to wear masks and practice social distancing measures.

Explainer: What is the treatment plan for President Trump's COVID-19?

WHAT IS THE EXPERIMENTAL TREATMENT TRUMP IS TAKING?

One of the most anticipated classes of experimental COVID-19 drugs is monoclonal antibodies: manufactured copies of human antibodies to the virus. The injected antibodies are designed to begin fighting the virus immediately and are being developed to prevent and treat COVID-19.

Trump’s doctor said the president is taking several medicines, including:

* Vitamin D and mineral zinc, both of which are important to the immune system and taken by some as immune system boosters.

* heartburn drug famotidine, often sold under the brand name Pepcid. The drug has not been proven to work against COVID-19, but researchers are studying it as a potential treatment.

* melatonin, often taken as a sleep aid.

* aspirin, which Trump previously has said he takes daily. Aspirin can help avoid heart attacks and is a fever reducer.

Several media are reporting that Chris Wallace told Bill Hemmer on Fox today that President Trump and some of his entourage arrived too late to be tested by the Cleveland Clinic for COVID-19 coronavirus on the day of the debate (September 29). I do not see that interview on the Fox youtube account so I can not independently verify these reports.

There is a video on the account below:

Chris Wallace on Fox News suggests that at least some campaign officials at Tuesday’s debate were not tested on site: “[Some] didn’t arrive until Tuesday afternoon … there wouldn’t have been enough time to have the test and have the debate … there was an honor system"
