Teleconference notes:

6th month of response...a lot of work ahead as US re-opens

Focus on spread and transmissible and also asymptomatic transmission

Social distancing, hand washing, face covering - key defenses

Thanks US people for protecting most vulnerable

The situation is unprecedented and the pandemic is not over

MMWR has some recommendations

Bad news - pandemic is not over

Good news - flattened curve

As communities re-open cases are increasing in some areas

Higher risk when associate with more people and length of time of exposures

Use social distancing, wash hands / alcohol cleaner, face coverings

Giving some examples of how to deal with pandemic going ahead...i.e. maintain distancing, avoid sharing frequently touched items, use drive-up

Asking for continuing efforts to changing life practices..could see more cases as states re-open

Gear up for fall and winter - just-in-case - also pushing flu vaccine for this flu season to differentiate between COVID-19 and flu

some technical problems as question and answer period starts...can't hear any voices....

nada....some technical noises...no voices....

Mass gatherings? political rallies? Guidelines are for any type of gathering - backyard gatherings or anything - don't attend events if you are ill or recently exposed to a positive case.

Want to keep curve flattened

Wide spread lock downs in the future? Monitoring and surveillance is key. Extensive mitigation efforts might need to happen again. Local decisions. Vast majority of people have not been exposed to this virus.

Embargo on info from this meeting until 1 p.m. ET - (No guideline to link to on CDC site yet. I will link when it is available.)

Nationally hospitalization rates going down. Ongoing situation. Very concerned about hospitalization rates.

Pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic nature of COVID-19 needs aggressive surveillance in vulnerable groups. i.e. test all nursing home residents, all prisons, all risk settings, some urban areas....

A document says infections spiking in US? Haven't seen that document that indicates spiking like Brazil, please forward to CDC media.....
