Florida resident dies from listeria as cases linked to Boar’s Head recall spread

Three cases of listeria reported in Florida as U.S. handles biggest outbreak of the disease since 2011. Publix deli counter in Miami on July 26, 2024. Publix sells Boar's Head meats but the company spokesperson said products listed in the recent recall notice have been pulled from store shelves.

Published Yesterday A Florida resident has died from listeria, one of five new deaths reported as part of a multistate outbreak of the disease linked to a recall of Boar’s Head luncheon meat, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday afternoon.

The agency said there have been 14 more cases of listeria bringing the total number to 57. All of those infected were hospitalized with eight dying from the disease. Three of the cases were in Florida.
