The Florida Department of Health reported 10,105 new coronavirus cases — the highest increase since late July — and 29 more resident deaths on Sunday.
To date, 885,201 people have been infected statewide and 17,518 residents have died. With 216 non-resident deaths, the combined toll is 17,734.
Florida ranks third in the nation for total positive COVID-19 cases. Texas leads with over 1.05 million, followed by California with over 1.02 million.

Sunday’s case report is the first time the health department has posted more than 10,000 new cases in a single day since July 25. Over the last week, the daily case report continued to hover in the 4,000-7,000 range, having only dipped below 4,000 once since Oct. 31.
