US doles out aid for bird flu fight in Indonesia

Jakarta (VNA) ? The US will provide 25 million USD to support Indonesia?s national bird flu prevention strategy for the 2006-08 period, the US Embassy in Jakarta announced.
The funding will be used to support Indonesia in the control of bird flu-causing substances in poultry, the control of epidemiology of bird flu both in humans and poultry, as well as prevention measures of the spread of bird flu in the islands of Java and Bali and the province of North Sumatra.
The money will be channeled through the US Agency for International Development.
