USAFSAM:
* All 33 pH1N1 samples genetically sequenced by USAFSAM are 98.2%-99.1% homologous to the DoD strain currently used in the pH1N1 vaccine (A/California/7/2009)
* The sequence of an H3N2 isolate from South Carolina collected in July 2009 shows significant differences from the current Northern Hemisphere H3N2 vaccine strain (A/Brisbane/10/2007-like) and some slight differences from newly selected Southern Hemisphere H3N2 vaccine strain (A/Perth/16/2009-like)
NHRC: There are currently no basic training centers with substantially elevated febrile respiratory illness (FRI) rates
USACHPPMEUR: European MTFs are beginning to see increased ILI in the 26-64 year age range with decreases in all other ages
BAACH (Korea): Influenza testing and pH1N1 results from the BAACH lab have increased dramatically over the past two weeks
AFRIMS: Surveillance conducted in SE Asia continues to demonstrate co-circulation of H3N2, pH1N1 and influenza B
USAMRU-Kenya: Surveillance in East Africa continues to see a predominance of pH1N1 with a few seasonal strains beginning to appear in the circulation pattern

ILI and pneumonia and influenza (P&I) incidence rates decreased slightly over the past week
ESSENCE: Clinic visit counts for ILI appear to be leveling off across the MHS with the exceptions of ROK, Europe & California
DMSS: Nine influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported this past week through service reportable medical event systems
