Six persons belonging to a family died within four days after they were affected by an unknown disease in Baraguda village under Jharigam block of Nabarangpur district.
The deceased were identified as Rachita Meleka, her mother Dipai Meleka and maternal grandmother Maler Melka, while Rachita Melka died during the treatment at CHC, Umerkote Maler Melka, Depai Melka, died on Wednesday and Thursday while Ratana Melka died on Friday at District Headquarters hospital, Nabarangpur. Another member of same family had died in September 5 after being affected by the disease. With this the total number of person died after being affected by the disease in the village has gone up to seven.
Dr. Niranjen Behera, CDMO said a medical team went to the village in order to diagnose the disease and provide treatment to the affected people. In compliance with the direction issued by the district administration another doctor team with ADMO Dr. Sobharani Mishra, reached the village and collecting information regarding the symptoms of the disease.
The Director Health also engaged a doctor team of MKCG hospital, Berhampur to diagnoses the disease they are on the way to Jharigam, said Dr. Behera. -
