Chikungunya scare
Bhatkal, July 9, 2008 (Bhatkallys News): Even as reports of the spread of ?chikungunya? in the coastal areas are coming in, people here are under the apprehension that the diseased has also spread to Bhatkal.
A person from Marukeri who was treated for fever in Kundapur hospital was moved to Bhatkal Government hospital after he showed symptoms of chikungunya. There have been reports of other such cases as well.
People showing symptoms are finding it more and more difficult to find medical treatment as no doctor is willing to treat them locally.
The issue was raised at the KDP meeting following which the district administration has agreed to take corrective actions to prevent any spread of chikungunya if there is an outbreak at Bhatkal.
