April 22, 2011 - New York State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine today alerted consumers of undeclared milk in ?Carob Brown Rice Crunch Squares? and in ?Carob Mint Miniatures?, packaged and distributed by Simple Foods, located at 116 Killewald Avenue in Tonawanda, New York. People who have severe sensitivity to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled ?Carob Brown Rice Crunch Squares? are packaged in an uncoded 1.6 ounce cellophane package with a UPC code of 36664-00300. The recalled ?Carob Mint Miniatures? are packaged in an uncoded 5.5 ounce cardboard box. Both products were sold at various health food stores in New York, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets? food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained milk allergens, which were not declared on the label.
No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this product...
