The number of new cases of covid-19 revealed this Friday by the Ministry of Health in Barranquilla, which with 2,106 led the list of places with the highest number of infected, while an explanation from the mayor of that city also generated uncertainty.

To begin, he clarified that most of the cases reported by the national health authorities do not correspond to people affected on the date, but to tests taken in previous months. A high percentage of said positives, as reported, are from people who have already recovered.

In fact, they stated that of the 2,106 new cases only 196 are the results of tests taken in July, 1,905 are from samples taken in June and the remaining 6 in May.

The administration of the capital of the Atlantic stated that this clarification is pertinent and coincides with the report of the Superintendency of Health on about 30,000 tests dammed in June in the country. The Mayor's Office reported that of the 27 deaths yesterday, only two are from July.
