Ulster County reports its first death from swine flu

July 16, 2009 - 3:15 PM

SAUGERTIES - An adult male from Saugerties has become the first swine-flu death in Ulster County.

County officials announced the man's death this afternoon and stressed that his case was complicated by other, pre-existing medical conditions. His name was not released and county officials would not say how old the man was.

An Albany laboratory had confirmed eight cases of the H1N1 strain of influenza, referred to as swine flu, in Ulster County.
