KIEV, May 6 (Xinhua) -- A total of 13,184 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 327 deaths were reported in Ukraine on Wednesday, while 2,097 patients have recovered, the country's health ministry said.

As of Wednesday, 905 children and 2,551 health workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19. In the past 24 hours, 487 people have tested positive for the virus.

A total of 3,880 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized since the beginning of the epidemic, including 439 health workers. Among them, 169 people were on ventilators, including one child and 14 medical workers.

The number of officially confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ukraine has reached 14,195 as of 9 a.m. on May 8, according to Ukraine’s health ministry. In total, 361 people have died from the disease in Ukraine and 2,706 patients have recovered.

In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has identified 504 new COVID-19 cases. However, 310 people have recovered – a record number since the beginning of the outbreak.

Out of all COVID-19 patients in Ukraine, 977 are children and 2,758 are medical workers. In the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s health ministry has carried out 7,763 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, the most accurate way of diagnosing COVID-19.

According to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov, 59 laboratories are conducting PCR-tests in Ukraine.
