The man was hospitalized on February 29 after he developed fever and a dry cough, and the positive test results for COVID-19 arrived late on Monday, Deputy Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said.

His wife still has no symptoms, but has now self-isolated at home.

The local authorities in Chernivtsi were alerted about the arrival of the virus on Tuesday.

“Today at about 10 o’clock we received an official confirmation from the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine that a positive result was obtained at the stage of diagnosis at the National Virology Laboratory,” acting Director of Chernivtsi Regional Laboratory Center of Ukraine’s Health Ministry Natalia Hopko said at a briefing on Tuesday.

A Ukrainian woman, 71, died of COVID-19 on March 13, Ukraine’s health ministry reported. This is the first death from the novel coronavirus that was reported in Ukraine.

The woman was hospitalized in serious condition on March 12 in her hometown of Radomysl, a city of 14,700 people some 110 kilometers west of Kyiv, in Zhytomyr Oblast. She tested positive for coronavirus, becoming one of only three confirmed cases in Ukraine.

The city was locked down on the morning of March 13, following the news.

As of the morning of March 14, 3 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases were registered in Ukraine. In the Chernivtsi region there are two cases of the disease, in Zhytomyr - one that has been fatal.

Since the beginning of 2020, the Public Health Center has received 67 reports of suspicion of COVID-19, (3 cases - laboratory confirmed, 61 - negative, no coronavirus, 3 samples examined).

Fourteen Ukrainians have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to the Ukrainian Health Ministry's Public Health Center.

"According to the virological reference laboratory of Ukraine's Public Health Center, 14 tested positive for COVID-19: Chernivtsi region (10), Zhytomyr region (1), Kyiv region (1) and the city of Kyiv (2)," it said. A third person has died from the novel coronavirus in Ukraine, while the total number of confirmed cases in the country has risen to 21, Ukraine’s health ministry reported on March 19.

Ukraine has registered the first case of recovery from the coronavirus.


President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his latest video address, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Zelenskyy congratulated the man and the whole country on such news.

The President called on the Ukrainians to keep calm and stay in isolation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a total of 26 coronavirus cases have been laboratory-confirmed in Ukraine, three cases were lethal.

Ukraine has identified 15 new cases of COVID-19 on March 20, a record number that brings the total to 41.

According to the Center for Public Health, the 41 cases are spread across nine of the country’s 24 oblasts and the city of Kyiv.

The number of coronavirus cases in the country has grown rapidly over the last several days in a pattern previously seen in other countries suffering from the pandemic...

On March 21, the Public Health Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine already deals with 80 suspected cases of coronavirus.

"The Public Health Center has received 80 suspected cases of Covid-19 on March 21. There have been 450 reports on suspected cases of coronavirus since the beginning of 2020. Self-isolation is the most effective way to protect yourself from infection," the press service of the Ministry of Health reports.

As of 10:00 on March 21, Ukraine had 41 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19, three of which were lethal. One patient recovered and was already discharged from the hospital. Fifteen new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

To date, coronavirus cases were confirmed in: Chernivtsi region - 25 cases (1 lethal, 1 recovery); Zhytomyr region - 2 cases (1 lethal); Kyiv region - 3 cases; Donetsk region - 1 case; Dnipropetrovsk region - 2 cases; Ivano-Frankivsk region - 2 cases (1 lethal); Lviv region -1 case; Ternopil region - 1 case; Kharkiv region - 1 case; Kyiv city - 3 cases.

The Ministry of Health confirmed 47 cases of Covid-19 infection in Ukraine. It is reported by the Center for Public Health.

Of the 47 cases identified, three are fatal. A total of 790 tests were processed in laboratories.
Seven new cases of infection with the coronavirus Covid-19 were registered in Kyiv. The city chairman Vitali Klitschko reported this in his Telegram channel.

So as of March 21, 10 cases of coronavirus were recorded in Ukrainian capital.

“Today in the evening we received laboratory-confirmed tests of two women of 29 and 39 years old and 5 men aged 31 to 50 years,” Klitschko wrote.

According to the CCH, as of 22:30 on March 22, there are 73 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19, 3 of which were fatal, 1 was recovered and already discharged from hospital. During the day, 26 new cases were detected.

Thirteen new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, have been identified in the western Chernivtsi Oblast on March 24, according to the oblast’s governor, Sergii Osachuk. The total number of cases in Ukraine now stands at 97.

Since the first case was identified in Chernivtsi on March 3, the number of infected in the region has surged to 38 people.

Number of COVID-19 cases in Ukraine rockets to 145, with five deaths (UPDATED)

Ukraine has now officially confirmed 145 cases of COVID-19, the country’s Ministry of Health revealed on the night of March 25.

According to the ministry’s Center for Public Health, all 145 cases are laboratory-confirmed. Five of the cases have been fatal. One patient has officially recovered and been released from the hospital, the ministry wrote on Facebook...

Ukraine's Health Ministry in its morning update says the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases across Ukraine has reached 311, with eight lethal ones. Five patients have fully recovered (4 adults and a child), the report adds. Ninety-three new cases were confirmed over the past 24 hours.
