The Konotop District Department of the Main Department of the State Production and Consumer Service in Sumy Region reports on the discovery of highly pathogenic influenza in poultry in Sumy Region.
Notification of the death of a bird in the village. The pants of the Sumy district arrived on December 29, 2023. The fall of poultry occurred in auxiliary farms of the private sector. A total of 98 chickens and 5 ducks died, including 34 chickens purchased on 12/23/2023 based on an advertisement on the Internet. The fall of the purchased bird began on the day of purchase. The sick bird from the villagers refused feed and water, was immobile (standing or sitting with its head down).
According to the results of the pathological autopsy of the bird carcasses, a suspicion of bird flu was established. The suspicion was confirmed based on the results of PCR studies of biomaterial collected from bird carcasses, RNA of avian influenza virus type A subtype H5N1 was detected, according to the report on the results of the study of pathological/biological material/environmental objects No. 014048 m.p.m./23 of 31.12.2023 of the State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary-Sanitary Examination.
By decision of the State Emergency Antiepizootic Commission under the Sumy District State Administration, the territory of the village Shtanivka was declared an unfavorable point for highly pathogenic bird flu and quarantine was imposed.
