Epidemiological comments With effect from 12 March 2007 all zone restrictions were lifted and the outbreak finished.

Vaccination in poultry is prohibited. Vaccination is permitted in zoo birds subject to strict controls in accordance with EU rules.

Final cleansing and disinfection of the single infected premises were completed on 25 June 2007.

Therefore, the United Kingdom declares that its status as a country free of notifiable avian influenza has been regained on 6 October 2007.
