FRIENDS and family are planning a service in memory of a Doncaster teenager who died suddenly just days after complaining of flu-type symptoms.
The parents of 18-year-old Aimee Louise Garnett made the heartbreaking decision to switch off her life-support machine after doctors told them there was no chance of survival.
Aimee, a dance student, had been given Tamiflu 12 days before she died, but tests carried out when she was admitted to DRI proved negative for swine flu.
Her parents have been told she died as a result of inflammation of the heart.
Her father Andrew described Aimee, who lived with him in Lynden Avenue, Adwick, as full of life and fantastically bubbly.
He said he phoned for help and his daughter was taken to hospital after she failed to improve after being given Tamiflu.
After five hours medics decided to keep Aimee in for observation, but 10 minutes after she was admitted her condition had deteriorated.
He said: "Within an hour she was on full life support. It was devastating."
Aimee was also close to her mum, Amanda, of Broxholme Lane, Wheatley.
She said: "She enjoyed life, she just loved everything that she did."
Aimee became ill on Tuesday, October 20. Her mum called the swine flu information line and Aimee received Tamiflu. She was taken to DRI on Saturday, October 24 and died on Sunday, November 1.
Doncaster College's interim principal John Taylor also paid tribute to Aimee: "I was deeply sorry to learn about the death of Aimee Garnett and I wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends on behalf of everyone at Doncaster College."
Aimee's college friends are planning to perform the Spice Girls' song Viva Forever at her funeral at St Laurence's Church, Adwick, at 1pm on Monday, which will be followed by burial at Red House Cemetery at 1.50pm.
Her parents asking everyone attending to wear pink, her favourite colour.
A post mortem examination showed Aimee died of natural causes and no inquest will be held.

here we go again IMO, she had the flu, got Tamiflu, was treated, and then got intubated and died, and still these spinners rule it was 'natural causes'
