The number of cases across the South West has nearly tripled in a week

A fresh outbreak of scarlet fever has occurred across Bath and Somerset with 13 fresh cases across the county confirmed in the last week.

The total number of people infected with the disease across the South West in the week ending February 16 stands at 72, up from 27 in the previous seven days, according to figures released by Public Health England.

Four people have been diagnosed with scarlet fever in South Somerset in the last seven days, along with four in Bath and North East Somerset...
