Mumps has broken out in at least two colleges, jeopardising finalists? exams and rowers? Summer Eights efforts.
Cases have been confirmed by doctors in St Hilda?s and Corpus Christi, while students are reporting further unconfirmed cases in St John?s. Cherwell understands that several students who have caught the illness are approaching exams.
In an email to Corpus students, the Welfare Dean Judith Maltby told the college, ?It has been brought to our attention that there are several cases of Mumps within the University and there have been two confirmed cases within Corpus.?..

Public Health Wales is warning of an increase in mumps cases in Wales as too many young people remain unvaccinated with MMR.
The warning about this potentially serious infection comes as cases in the measles outbreak centred on the Swansea area have risen again by 20 in the last week, to 1,191.
There has also been an increase in mumps cases this year, and young people and their parents are reminded that two doses of the MMR vaccine protects against mumps, as well as measles and rubella. Up to the end of May 2013, there were 76 confirmed cases of mumps in Wales for the year so far ? compared with 77 cases for the whole of 2011 and 88 for the whole of 2012...

Public health officials are warning of a rise in cases of mumps due in part to waning immunity to the disease in those given the MMR vaccine.
There were 948 cases of mumps in the first quarter of the year, more than the 673 measles cases which prompted a national catch-up campaign to increase take-up of the MMR vaccine. ..

A total of 24 suspected cases of measles and mumps were reported in North Wales during the September period ? nearly double the amount for the previous month.
The figures, provided by Public Health England (PHE) ? formerly the Health Protection Agency, relate to the number of infections reported between August 26 and September 29 this year...
...Reported cases of mumps during the five-week period was much higher with eight in Wrexham, seven in Flintshire, two in Denbighshire and one in Conwy.
During the previous month ? July 29 to August 25 ? there was a total of 14 suspected cases reported for both diseases, four of which were for measles and ten for mumps...
