Two out of the eight people admitted at Naguru hospital with cholera symptoms, tested positive to the disease - pending confirmatory tests by the Central Public Health Laboratories (CPHL).

The group of patients was referred to Naguru from Kabowa in Rubaga division after they presented cholera like symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting.

Ministry of Health spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona says that ministry is still investigating stool and blood samples obtained from the eight patients admitted at Naguru hospital. He, however, added that preliminary results indicated that two of the cases were suffering from cholera...

Uganda grapples with renewed Cholera outbreak

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ADV) A cholera outbreak is rocking Uganda following the confirmation of 10 cases on 10 January, sources confirmed on Saturday.

Uganda health ministry officials said an isolation centre has been opened at a hospital in the suburbs of Lubaga and Madindye east of the capital Kampala where the epidemic erupted.

No deaths have been recorded to date, but health ministry officials are making frantic efforts to contain the propagation beyond the present area.

Hence, the government is undertaking a public awareness campaign to ensure proper waste disposal and warning people to refrain from buying and eating food in the streets...

Kampala. The Cholera outbreak has spread to other parts of Kampala City as Naguru hospital continues to receive suspected cholera patients.
The hospital on Monday recorded six more cases where one from Bukoto, a Kampala suburb, tested positive for the disease.
Mr Steven Kyebambe, the head of clinical services at the hospital, said all the six patients showed signs and symptoms of cholera though they are awaiting final results from Central Public Health Laboratories (CPHL) in Butabika.
?We have six patients in isolation centre now. One child, three women and two males. They all showed signs and symptoms of cholera. Since the outbreak, we have dealt with about 20 patients regarding cholera,? Mr Kyebambe said...

BUDUDA ? Ministry of Health has officially declared a Cholera outbreak in Bududa. The ministry has confirmed that three suspected cases have been identified, with no confirmed death.

The three suspected cases reported so far have originated from a community that has already been devastated by landslides.

The confirmation echoes an earlier report by the Red Cross Society which first raised an alarm on the outbreak of Cholera in May this year...

Drastic measures taken to fight cholera in Nakivale camp

Primary schools from Nyarugugu villages in Nakivale camp in Uganda have been closed since Tuesday. This is one of the measures that have been taken in the context of cholera prevention reported in this camp since the end of last week.

The measure of temporarily closing all primary schools in Nyarugugu village was taken by the officials of Nakivale camp in collaboration with the education authorities.

The goal is to stop the spread of this cholera epidemic and also protect these schoolchildren. One of the refugees said that the association "Medical Team International" in charge of the health sector is already working to raise awareness of the fight against this epidemic.

"Here in the camp, the water is sufficient. Only they tell us to boil it before consuming it. Regarding hygiene in the latrines, there are cleaners who take care of it. They also give us cans to keep water clean, as well as products for water purification. "

Other measures have been taken to prevent this epidemic, including raising awareness of hand-washing from the toilet.

This Cholera epidemic has already claimed the lives of 3 people when more than 15 others are hospitalized.

NAKIVALE- UGANDA: A STILL IDENTIFIED DISEASE ALREADY MAKES 3 VICTIMS IN LESS THAN ONE MONTH

Some people already mention cholera with regard to its symptoms. A disease that causes panic in the Nakivale refugee camp in Uganda.

In less than three weeks, three people have already succumbed to this previously unknown disease. 15 others are newly affected, according to health services.

Refugees fear for their health and raise a cry of alarm.

Symptoms of this disease include diarrhea, vomiting, weakness, and sometimes headaches.

It first appeared in the village of Nyarugugu, not far from the part occupied by Burundian refugees.

Primary schools have also been closed since Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in order to stop the spread of the disease.

In Nakivale, some people think that it has been a cholera epidemic that has appeared in this camp for three weeks.

Hygiene is lacking due to the glaring lack of water permanently.

Health officials have started an awareness campaign on hygiene measures.

Cans are also distributed to keep drinking water.

According to our sources, a group of UNHCR doctors and volunteers has already been dispatched to take care of people with the disease and to identify it.

13 Ugandans admitted with cholera-like symptoms in Busia
