The DNR's Ed Golder said the order only covers wild or feral hogs, that the department identifies as Wild Russians or Wild Eurasians on the basis of physical characteristics. It's this use of physical indentifiers that troubles some who worry the inexact criteria could be used to target other hogs.

Whether the order targets heritage hogs or not, it does leave many questions in consumers' minds. Principally, why has the order been so enthusiastically supported by industrial hog interests? And why is it happening in Michigan where the feral hog problem is so much smaller than many other states? ..
