كشف مصدر مسئول بالهيئة العامة للخدمات البيطرية أن السفارة الأمريكية ومنظمات وجمعيات الرفق بالحيوان أعربوا عن استيائهم من مطالبة البعض بإعدام القطط والكلاب الضالة فى شوارع القاهرة، خوفا من نشر فيروس أنفلونزا الخنازير، خاصة أن هناك عددا كبيرا من القطط والكلاب تنتشر فى جميع شوارع القاهرة تقريبا.
وعلم "اليوم السابع" أن السفارة الأمريكية بالقاهرة طلبت من الهيئة توضيحا لما نشره موقع "اليوم السابع" حول استعداد الهيئة للقضاء على قطط وكلاب الشوارع، عقب إصابة قطة أمريكية بمرض أنفلونزا الخنازير.
من جهته أكد مصدر مسئول بهيئة الخدمات البيطرية عدم وجود توجه لإعدام القطط والكلاب، مضيفا الهيئة ستتعامل معها حسب خطورتها فى نقل المرض.
وكان اليوم السابع قد نشر فى وقت سابق أن هيئة الخدمات البيطرية قد رفعت حالة الاستعداد فى محاولة منها لمنع انتشار مرض أنفلونزا الخنازير بين الحيوانات المستأنسة، خاصة القطط والكلاب الضالة بالشوارع، وذلك بعد إصابة قطة أمريكية منزلية بالمرض قبل عدة أيام، وكشفت مصادر أن الهيئة قد طلبت من الجهات الدولية مد مصر بالمعلومات عن تطور المرض وخطورة انتشاره بين الحيوانات.

An official source at the General Authority for Veterinary Services, the U.S. embassy, organizations and animal welfare groups have expressed dissatisfaction with some calling for the execution of stray cats and dogs in the streets of Cairo, for fear of the deployment of swine influenza virus, especially since there are a large number of cats and dogs are deployed in almost all the streets of Cairo.
And consent "on the seventh day" that the American embassy in Cairo had asked the Commission published a clarification of what the site "on the seventh day" on the willingness of the Commission for the Eradication of cats and dogs of the streets, after a cat infected American bird pigs.
For his part, stressed the official source of veterinary services, lack of orientation for the execution of cats and dogs, adding body to deal with it by gravity in the transfer of the disease.
It was the seventh day had been published earlier that the Veterinary Services has lifted a state of alert in an attempt to prevent the spread of swine flu among domesticated animals, especially cats and dogs on the streets, and wounded after a U.S. household cat ill a few days, sources revealed that the Commission has asked the international bodies to extend the information on the development of Egypt and the seriousness of the disease spread among animals.
