U.S. Deaths Likely Well Over 400

The current FT count of confirmed deaths in the U.S. is 387 (which includes the 3 deaths abroad). Puerto Rico has reported 10 confirmed deaths, but has an additional 24 suspected deaths under investigation. County DOHs in California have been updating their numbers and there have been at least 10 new deaths reported in 3 counties today with most of California counties and the State DOH still to provide updates.

In addition, despite significant efforts to get updated information from NYC (where the last update on 7/7 reported 47 deaths), no new deaths have been reported for the past 3 weeks. A NYS DOH official told me this week that the State's only source of information from NYC is the City's website. Hmmm.

All in all, I think we can safely say that we'll be well past the 400 mark by the end of the week.

Re: U.S. Deaths Likely Well Over 400

Well, it happened much quicker than I thought now that we've sorted out the California deaths. My guess is that New York probably isn't far behind if NYC would release their recent data. If anyone has any contacts at the NYC DoH, any help finding out their current total number of deaths and hospitalizations would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to 400 confirmed U.S. deaths, my tally has 41 suspected deaths (24 are from Puerto Rico). My tally worldwide is 1,374 confirmed and 367 suspected deaths. Of the suspected deaths, 156 are in Argentina for a total confirmed and suspected in Argentina of 414. I've been keeping a tally of Argentina cases (:tiphat: Shiloh) and am pretty confident, based on combing through the reports posted by Shiloh, that the vast majority of the suspected deaths are H1N1 related.
