U.S. announces new bird flu program

WASHINGTON, March 30 (UPI) — The U.S. government says it is boosting international support for programs to stop a possible bird flu pandemic.

The U.S. Agency for International Development has announced a three-year, $35.8 million contract for a program called Stamping out Pandemic and Avian Influenza -- or STOP AI -- designed to limit the impact of bird flu around the globe.

ahh, 36million, that's not really $$$.

WHO required 10billion for a vaccine-effort recently.
Senate had passed 3billion from 7billion demanded by Bush last year.
HHS gave about 200million to vaccine companies for research.

When they would even remotely consider the threat as big as we do here,
then they would invest more...

That includes other countries too, of course.
