LA PORTE, Texas (FOX 26) -
3 La Porte Independent School District students are "recovering from viral meningitis," according to a statement released by the LPISD lead nurse.
Registered Nurse Laura Lynch, who serves as lead nurse for LPISD, released the following statement regarding two students from Jennie Reid Elementary School and one student from La Porte High School:
Viral meningitis should not be confused with bacterial meningitis, which can be a far more serious illness. Preliminary indications are that the affected students all attended the same non-school-related event...
