Amid reports of outbreak of epidemics in parts of the district as monsoon gathered momentum during the last couple of days, a two-year old girl died at a hospital in Mangalore due to suspected case of fever and vomiting.
Aneesha, daughter of Satheeshan, residing at Ichilangode near Paduppu, died late on Sunday night in the hospital where she was said to have been undergoing treatment for severe bout of fever and vomiting for the last two days.
The girl?s death comes amid reports of outbreak of epidemics in Kumbla and Bandiyode localities triggering panic among the residents.
E. Raghavan, District Medical Officer, when contacted, however, said that the actual reason that caused the girl?s death could be ascertained only by tomorrow as he get reports from the hospital, where she was treated.
Despite taking adequate measures to tackle monsoon related epidemics by the administration, the acute shortage of doctors in government hospitals in the district is causing great ordeal among the public who by and large depend on government hospitals.
