Two More Mainers Die After Contracting H1N1

The total number of deaths in Maine attributed to the virus now stands at 13.
Swine flu has claimed two more lives in Maine, bringing the total number of deaths attributed to the H1N1 virus in Maine to 13. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention says the two latest victims include a Mainer between the ages of 50 and 65 who died out of state, and a Penobscot County resident over the age of 65. Like the other 11 victims who died, the two had underlying medical conditions, says Maine CDC Director Dr. Dora Mills.
Mills says the virus is now widespread in Maine, but she says vaccine supplies are increasing. She says the virus is particularly dangerous for those with underlying medical conditions, pregnant women and children. She says those at high risk should get vaccinated when supplies become available.
