Adoption fees lower through July

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is offering discounts on adoption fees through the end of July on the many dogs and cats left at the shelter.

● Mixed-breed dogs 5 months or older are $70.

● Mixed-breed dogs 5 months or older that have been in the shelter for more than two weeks are $40.

● All dogs come with a large, cedar-filled dog bed.

● Cats and kittens are two for the price of one ? two cats for $80, and two kittens for $95.
● A single cat 5 months or older is $40.

The Humane Society, 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd., is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. For more information, call 327-6088.

Screening of DVD on bird flu is offered

The Arizona Bird Club will have a free public screening Saturday of a DVD about avian influenza ? the bird flu.

The 3 1/2-hour DVD will feature a panel of leaders from the aviculture and medical fields talking about bird flu. Refreshments will be served during intermission. The DVD begins at 1 p.m. at the Veterinary Specialist Center, 4909 N. La Ca?ada Drive.

Vaccinations for ferrets will cost $10

Tucson's Ferret Friends will have a distemper vaccination clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Strickland Veterinary Clinic, 2954 N. Tucson Blvd.
