Van bird flu suspected
Feb 14, 2007

Van, evlerinde ?len bird contact ettikleri belirlenen 3 kardeşin kan numunelerinin [3 siblings blood samples], Y?z?nc? Yıl ?niversitesi (YY?) Tıp Fak?ltesi Araştırma Hastanesi tarafından Sağlık Bakanlığı laboratuarlarına g?nderildiği bildirildi.

YY?

Bunun i?in kanatlı hayvanlardan uzak durma tarzını ?ğrenmeliyiz.

First tests positive for bird flu in Silvan
More than 120 students were given one week off from school as a precaution against the threat of contracting bird flu.
DIYARBAKIR - Initial results from samples taken from domestic fowl from the village of Akcayir in the Silvan district of the southeastern Turkish province of Diyarbakir have tested positive for avian influenza.

Authorities have imposed a quarantine in Akcayir and five nearby hamlets after suspicious deaths among poultry.

There have also been confirmed cases of the H5N1 strain of the avian flu virus in the Gercus district of the province of Batman, also in south eastern Turkey.

Though seven people have been hospitalised with flu-like symptoms, tests have shown that four had not contracted the virus, while results are still pending on the other three.
