moving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph...13 km/hr...and this
motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days. On the
forecast track...frank should move parallel to the coast of southern
mexico through wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph...95 km/hr...with higher
gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours...
And it is possible that frank could reach hurricane strength by
late tuesday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 45 miles...75 km
from the center.

Estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb...29.47 inches.

One person dead and at least 20 000 people affected in different communities in the state of Oaxaca, is the preliminary balance of the rains caused by tropical wave Frank, officials and local civil protection agency.

On Tuesday afternoon, part of a hill broke away and fell on two people in the community Totontepec in the Mixe region about 300 kilometers north of this city, the body of one of them was rescued without life, while the other is still classified as disappeared, reported the guard of the Institute of Civil Protection of Oaxaca.

While dozens of communities are isolated in the region Papaloapan Basin, as civil protection zone has been considered as one of the most affected. The inhabitants of the town of Ayonzintepec, is incommunicado, because the bridge that collapsed and now communicates four thousand people can not leave their community.

In that same region that borders the state of Veracruz, the rains destroyed a bridge connecting the city of Tuxtepec the agency of San Bartolo, where they are now cut off at least five thousand people.

For its part, the Regional Delegate of Tuxtepec, David Canseco Garc?a, explained that the city of Tuxtepec, opened four shelters that are home to some 300 families, because their homes were flooded.

In Juchit?n de Zaragoza, a municipality in the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, about 300 miles east of this city, about two thousand 500 houses suffered various damages, including floods and fall of walls, so that the shelters were activated only reached 600 people, while others chose to take refuge with their families.

In the Mixteca region, west of the city overflowed San Diego River that passes near the town of Tlaxiaco, causing dozens of homes were flooded.

MIAMI ? Tropical Storm Frank strengthened into the third Pacific hurricane of the 2010 season on Wednesday, veering west after soaking Mexico's southern coast, where heavy rains left four dead.

Hurricane Frank packed winds of up to 75 miles (120 kilometers) per hour, making it a Category One hurricane on the five-level Saffir-Simpson scale, the US National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory.

The storm was about 240 miles south of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico, moving west-northwest at 13 miles per hour, the NHC reported.

It was not expected to make landfall, although it will pass near tiny Socorro Island on Friday.

At least four people died, including two buried in a landslide, and two were missing after heavy rains unleashed by Frank in Mexico's southern Oaxaca state, local officials said Wednesday.

The rains flooded homes, damaged roads and bridges and affected more than 100 towns.
